Join us for a 3-day workshop for Young Designers, the sessions will be jam-packed and full of exciting and experiential processes and techniques. Participants will take inspiration from the current exhibition and create a body of work that could be used for your portfolios, sketchbook work and independent projects.
Over the three days, you will explore experimental drawing techniques, collage, screen printing with paper stencils and exposed screens, repeat patterns, fashion illustration, designing on mini mannequins, stitch, sketchbook work and designing mood boards for your portfolios. You will also have a private tour of the exhibition and a garment-handling session delivered by the museum team. You are welcome to focus on a personal project and develop this for your portfolios or use the existing content designed especially for the workshop.
This course is open to 12-18 year olds who are curious about design, who are willing to take risks and who have a specialist interest in fashion and mixed media textiles. This workshop would also be useful for students who are thinking to apply for further studies and need to improve their creative skills.

Aims
- Experiment with textile processes such as learning to draw and screen printing
- Be experiential and explore material manipulation. Understand colour and pattern and how to use it within textile design

About the tutor
Nicole Line (@nicolelineworkshops) is an artist and textile tutor based in London, she graduated from University for the Creative Arts in Farnham in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Textiles. She holds a PGCert (2016) and a Master’s degree (2018) in Creative Education and founded Nicole Line Workshops in 2014. Nicole teaches mixed-media textiles such as Screen Printing, Heat Press Printing and Experimental Drawing. Nicole is also a lecturer at the University for the Creative Arts Epsom, teaching BA, Foundation and International students.

Eating and drinking: No food or drink is permitted in the Museum, other than bottled water. The Fashion and Textile Museum is located in the heart of Bermondsey Street, surrounded by award-winning restaurants, cafes and pubs.
