Anna Sui was one of a generation of American designers to gain prominence in 1990s New York and helped to change the course of American fashion. Sui is one of fashion’s great storytellers, with her own passions and dedicated research informing her work.
Presented by the Fashion and Textile Museum’s Head of Exhibitions, Dennis Nothdruft, this talk looks at key moments in Sui’s career, among them the infamous Grunge collections of the early 90s, and her recurring love affair with rock and roll. Sui remains an independent voice in an increasingly corporate industry – she has created a universe of her own that stays true to its creator’s vision.
