  • Behind the Seams: The Secrets of Chintz

Join Fashion and Textile Museum Collections Officer Gill Cochrane as she examines several pieces from the exhibition Chintz: Cotton in Bloom, in previously unseen detail.

Gill will share the secrets hidden within these garments and explore how chintz was used – and re-used – in garment construction in 18th and early 19th centuries. This is a unique opportunity to learn what happens ‘behind the seams’ of a costume exhibition and discover some of the most beautiful fabrics and well-constructed garments of the period.

This is a recording of the online event, Behind the Seams: the Secrets of Chintz, which originally took place on Thursday 2 September 2021 via Microsoft Teams.
