Freelance Sessional Pattern Cutting Tutor

We are looking for a pattern cutting tutor to deliver our popular one-day workshop, Copy Your Clothes. Our pattern making workshops are a popular part of our 1-day beginner workshop offer, and we are looking for experienced tutors to join our team of freelance workshop facilitators.

We are interested in talking to someone with a depth of knowledge in the subject who has experience of working in the fashion industry and wants to share their knowledge with keen adult learners.

About the Fashion and Textile Museum

Fashion and Textile Museum is the UK’s only museum dedicated to showcasing contemporary fashion and textile design. In place of a permanent display, the Museum hosts a diverse programme of temporary exhibitions, displaying a broad range of innovative fashion and textiles from designers and makers around the world.

Successful applicants will:

1. Be a practitioner with extensive knowledge, expertise and understanding of all aspects of pattern cutting.

2. Hold relevant qualifications or equivalent work experience.

3. Have proven experience in adult education, or relevant experience in leading groups of adults from a variety of different backgrounds.

4.Be available two Fridays per month to deliver the Copy Your Clothes workshop.

5. Have a recognised qualification in teaching adults or have equivalent work experience.

6. Have the following technical skills:

-Good communication skills

-Ability to work with mixed ability groups

-Ability to work with beginners who have no prior pattern cutting experience

-Expertise in manual pattern cutting, draping and clothing construction

– Expertise in using drape to copy patterns/existing garments

9. Be prepared to reflect on and improve their teaching practice in response to student feedback.

10. Have a commitment to updating their skills as required

11. Have an awareness and comply with Health and Safety policy and safe working practices.

Rate of Pay:

£240 per workshop
