  • Young Designers Fashion-Inspired Gelli Printing

Create prints for fashion in this fun half day Gelli Printing workshop.

Step into the world where fashion meets printmaking. In this hands-on workshop, young designers will explore Gelli Printing – a fun, experimental technique that creates bold textures, layered colours, and one-of-a-kind patterns.

Using fashion as our starting point, we’ll look at how designers draw inspiration from fabrics, prints, and runway trends. Participants will then translate these ideas into their own prints, experimenting with texture, repetition, and colour palettes commonly seen in contemporary fashion.

Throughout the session, you’ll learn how to:

  • Create striking prints using Gelli plates
  • Build layers to achieve depth and texture
  • Develop patterns inspired by textiles and garments
  • Experiment with mark-making tools and found materials

This workshop encourages creativity, risk-taking, and personal expression – there are no mistakes, only discoveries. By the end, each participant will have a collection of prints that can be used for sketchbooks, fashion illustrations, or as standalone artworks.

Perfect for curious creatives and aspiring designers, this session is all about playing with process and seeing textiles for fashion in a whole new way.

Age range: This workshop is aimed at 13–16-year-olds.

Duration: Half-day workshop. Sessions are 10:30 – 13:00 or 14:00 – 16:30.
