Join artist Lynn Setterington for a half day workshop exploring how simple, traditional techniques can be reinvented by using alternative materials to create textile art and embellishments.
Staged in her display Connecting Threads, this workshop will take inspiration from Lynn’s use of the Suffolk puff, a hand worked roundel made from remnants of cloth. Participants will create a small batch of puffs in a variety of media, learn how to join them together and explore different ways to apply them and use them, from an edging on clothing, blankets or accessories to using them to make a 3D object or artwork.
All materials will be provided, but we encourage you to bring your own scraps and recyclable materials left over from other projects. Small pieces of cotton cloth are ideal, your fabric must be flexible, not too thick or loosely woven, so dress fabrics such as cotton, silks or fine wool are ideal, as are plastic bags or manmade fabrics.
