We look forward to welcoming you to the Fashion and Textile Museum, the UK’s only museum dedicated to showcasing contemporary fashion and textile design.

In place of a permanent display, the Museum hosts a diverse programme of temporary exhibitions, displaying a broad range of innovative fashion and textiles from designers and makers around the world. Hours and admission

Hours: The Museum is open Tuesdays – Saturdays, 11.00 – 18.00 with last entry 45 minutes before closing. We are closed on Sundays and Mondays. The Museum will be closed for Christmas and New Year from 23 December 2024 to 1 January inclusive. 

*Recommended visit time 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Admission: Advanced ticket purchase for our exhibitions is highly recommended. If you have not pre-booked, entry may be available on the day. Ask a member of staff at reception for details.

Accessibility and facilities

The Fashion and Textile Museum entrance is step-free and wheelchair accessible. A wheelchair-accessible lift provides access to our mezzanine floor. For access, please ask any member of staff.


Lightweight portable folding stools are available for use during your visit. They can be found in the cloakroom.


We welcome guide, hearing and assistance dogs.


Large print captions are available at the entrance to the Main Gallery, please help yourself on arrival. If you would like to receive exhibition captions prior to your visit, please get in touch.

Museum Explorer Kits

When visiting with children why not borrow one of our Museum Explorer Kits to help kids engage with our exhibition and have fun in the gallery! Our kits have a variety of activities to suit primary school aged children, from fashion illustration to fabric swatch books there is something to keep busy hands entertained. Just ask a member of the team on arrival.


Our kits can also be used by primary schools visiting the exhibition, children 11 and under visit for free so the kits are a great way to enhance a school trip at no cost. Please contact our team to book a visit or for more information. 


We’ve signed up to the Kids in Museums Manifesto, as part of our commitment of being accessible and welcoming for all children, young people, and families. We encourage kids to sit on the floor in the gallery and get creative and have fun exploring!

We are located in the heart of fashionable Bermondsey Village with excellent public transport links.

By train or underground

Both National Rail and London Underground services (Jubilee and Northern lines) are available from London Bridge station, an eight-minute walk to the museum from its St Thomas Street entrance.

Check the Transport for London and National Rail websites before you travel for any changes to their services.

By Bus

Routes 47, 343 and 381 stop on Tooley Street.
Routes 1, 42, 78 and 188 stop on Tower Bridge Road.
Route C10 stops on Abbey Street/Long Lane.

By taxi or minicab

Black cabs can be pre-booked, hailed on the street or found at the designated taxi rank at the top of Bermondsey Street, close to Tooley Street. Minicabs must be booked in advance through a licensed private hire operator.

By car

The Museum does not have parking facilities, and the surrounding area is residential and permit-holder parking only, with limited free parking on evenings and weekends.

There is an NCP car park where Kipling Street meets Snowsfields, a five-minute walk from the Museum.

For the best information on local parking, we recommend visiting the Southwark Council website and entering the Museum’s postcode: SE1 3XF.

By bicycle

Santander Cycle hire docking stations are located at Tyers Gate and Snowsfields. There are no bicycle rack facilities at the Museum.
