Professional presentation of your work is essential in conveying your brand and product range and Adobe Illustrator plays a vital role in this. Flats and Fashion Illustrations are the essential tool for communicating the specifications and look, and they are the basis for garment construction and the visual presentation of collections.

Over this extended 4-day course, students will learn how to create basic flat drawings and illustrations, apply colour, patterns and add specifications. Under the supervision of our expert tutor, students will have the opportunity to practice and develop the practical skills taught and learn how to prepare the designs for publication and print.

The course covers the following main topics:

  • Create a professional workflow and Illustrator set-up for fashion flats and illustration
  • Create flats and fashion illustrations from a scanned image, using an array of different tools and techniques
  • Apply colour and patterns using industry-relevant colour skills and pattern repeats
  • Apply specifications for garment construction and presentations
  • Visualise your ideas and learn ways to prepare your files for print and presentation

This course is suitable for beginners, as a refresher or for those with a basic knowledge of Illustrator. The content is suitable for people working in the fashion and/or textiles sector, students, tutors or anyone interested in improving their computer design skills and learning techniques in Illustrator. Participants are required to have good computer skills and should feel confident using design software.
